Blackmail Is My Life

Features: DVD, Aspect Ratio 2.35:1, Mono Audio, English, Subtitled

A brutally intense yakuza film from pulp master Kinji Fukasaku, Blackmail is My Life follows the exploits of a ring of small-time punk extortionists who go up against Japan's corrupt establishment. Up-from-the-slums Shun (Hiroki Matsukata) is a young swinger who will do anything to keep his freewheeling lifestyle intact. His lucky streak of blackmailing unravels in violent fashion when he unwisely targets business allies of a powerful gang boss.

Editor's Note

One of Japanese cinema's most exhilarating directors, Kinji Fukasaku has thrilled audiences for over forty years. 1968's BLACKMAIL IS MY LIFE is no exception to the rule. The film follows an up-and-coming hipster, Shun (Hiroki Matsukata), as he blackmails his way into success and fortune. But that hot streak is short lived when Shun tries his luck on a very dangerous gangster. Dark, murky, and filled with splashes of violence, BLACKMAIL IS MY LIFE is a must-see for fans of the pulp genre.
